Our Story:
We were introduced by our mutual friends, Debi and Robert in addition to his late fiancée, Sabrina, back in early 2006 but at the time, we were just acquaintances. At the time, I was involved in a LARP game called Vampire: The Requiem and Werewolf so our paths sometimes crossed as we interacted in-character. Unfortunately though in October 2006, Sabrina passed away from diabetes complications. At that point, I started visiting Mark more often making sure he was okay and helping him to get out of the house every once awhile as he mourned his fiancee's death.
One day on the 4th of November, 2006 he offered to pick me up and go out shopping. On that day sitting at a McDonald's in Walmart eating chicken nuggets, as we were talking he casually asked me if I wanted to go out with him. He confessed that shortly after helping him grieve and deal with his fiancée that he had feelings for me. I was hesitant at first, since I felt not enough time had passed, but since that day, we have been together since.
As for getting engaged, Mark and I had always mutually talked about getting married at some point without formally getting an engagement ring. Although he wanted to initially propose on the Belle of Louisville on our 2 year anniversary, the boat unfortunately had retired for the season. Instead, on December 25, 2008 he surprised me with my engagement ring that he had cleverly hidden with balloons and a huge fake box at his parent's house.
